Tiidal Gaming’s (TIDL.C) Lazarus Esports player scores 2022 world championship

Tiidal Gaming (TIDL.C) announced today that Justin Reguly known as LZR Regs, a player for the company’s Lazarus Esports team, a wholly owned subsidiary, brought home the gold, winning the 2022 North American NHL Gaming World Championship (NHL GWC).

Lazarus Esports formed in 2010 as Canada’s first professional esports team and in the last twelve years has earned a combined $5,105,092.09 in prizes from 284 tournaments. Justin added another win and $26,000 to that total when he bested his competitors, hosting the New York Islanders for 2022 NHL GWC.

The tournament ran from March this year with 18,000 registrants vying for gold and a share of the prize pool of up to $100,000 USD. Justin was one of the eight contestants to make it to the North American Club Final.

Since coming on board with Lazarus, Justin has won a number of online ‘1v1’ and ‘6v6’ events across North America and is also a part of the influencer team at Lazarus that worked with Chevrolet Canada in November 2021 for the Chevrolet Canada Good Deeds Cup.

The event included the first of its kind esports event called the Chevrolet Canada Shootout Showdown present by Lazarus in March 2022.

Tiidal chief gaming officer, Charlie Watson, commented, “We would like to congratulate “LZR Regs” for winning the North American Gaming World Championship. Despite losing the first game in the Final, we were thrilled that Justin was able to rally and win the next two games in dominant fashion, to defeat his opponent and secure the title to be crowned the 2022 North American Gaming World Champion. It’s an honour that Lazarus Esports played a pivotal role in the development and training of Justin over the last one and a half years. We are delighted to have achieved such success to date in the NHL ecosystem and are eager to continue building and offering a supportive home and competitive space for the NHL esports community and other respective sports titles.”

Lazarus is a leader in esports for equality and inclusivity. With many of its 28+ pro players and 30+ creators originating from diverse indigenous and POC backgrounds as well as 28% of its team identifying as female.

Parent company Tiidal Gaming is a leading media and technology platform focused on enabling next generation engagement in esports and gaming and its portfolio also includes Sportsflare, a leading-edge online betting experience for sportsbooks which enables players to bet on themselves.

Tiidal reported $583,877 in cash as of April 30, 2022, and for the six months ending on that date, the company pulled in revenues of $214,994, a 23.9% decrease from the same period in 2021. The company attributed this negative difference to the impact of Covid on in-person gaming tournaments, a decrease in the number of tournaments played by Lazarus and a decrease in the amount of sponsors Lazarus was able to secure in the first half of fiscal 2022.

The company booked a net loss of $3.77 million in the six months ending on April 30, 2022 compared to the net loss of $562,129 reported for the same period last year. This difference was attributed to a $3,143,986 in increase in operating expenses due to an increase in salaried personnel, the addition of Lazarus and Sportsflare and the expense of operating as a publicly traded company.

Tiidal intends to carry out financing activities in the rest of fiscal 2022 in order to meet its financial obligations for the year.

Currently the company trades at $0.16 per share for a market cap of $10.73 million. Tiidal Gaming Group Stock Chart YTD
