Predictmedix (PMED.C) deployed their Safe Entry Stations at the Aster Garden Optima Living Community as part of a partnership with Optima Living, Connectus Global and Juiceworks Exhibits today, according to a press release.
This opening signals PMED’s entry into the North-American long-term care and assisting living sectors, which have been the hardest hit during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“At Aster Gardens, we’re extremely pleased to use such ground-breaking technology and lead the way for other seniors’ communities that might consider using it. Optima Living’s focus is always on creating quality, meaningful lives for residents who live in any of our 18 seniors living communities in western Canada,” said Ali Shivji, principal of Optima Living.
PMED is an artificial intelligence company building tools for impairment testing and healthcare. These gateways could easily end up in the doorway of any government installation or workplace to detect cannabis and alcohol impairment. The tech uses AI to determine whether the person passing through the archway is either high or drunk by using multiple features and a number of different data points. Testing is non invasive, which means it doesn’t need body fluids or human intervention, and therefore helps to minimize human error, and the potential for discrimination and prejudice.
They’ve also expanded their technology to screen for diseases and disorders like depression, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, which seems odd, given that the overall functionality of these gateways are to determine who to turn away given the virulence and potential social contamination of infectious disease.
Regardless, Aster Garden opened their doors to residents on March 21 and have implemented the scanner as a safeguard to fulfill their assisted living mandate of keeping residents and other people safe from COVID-19 and other infectious diseases, or viruses.
“Connectus welcomes the opportunity to be involved in this project with Aster Gardens and working with a sector that has been particularly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, to make Aster Gardens a safe place for residents to live and for families eventually to be together again. We need to take care of each other now more than ever,” said Norine Anderson, COO for Connectus Global.
CTV Edmonton covered this indepth in a video segment.
PMED is down $0.025 today and now trading at $0.495.
