Patriot One Technologies (PAT.T) deploys their Patscan technology to Mt. Healthy school district

We wrote a story earlier about a relationship formed between Patriot One Technologies (PAT.T) and a system integrator/reseller Ginter Electrical, and now that partnership has borne fruit in the form of deployment of their Patscan technology to the Mt. Healthy City School District in Mt. Healthy, Ohio.

Don’t you love it when a plan comes together? Naturally, the location of where deployment platforms are being deployed aren’t being disclosed, because it’s frankly better for security if they aren’t, but it’s enough to know they’re out there.

“Through these initial school and university-based deployments, our platform will provide invaluable data and learnings, which will help each future installation and deployment across a vast array of unique environments and venues. We’re honoured to have been selected by Mt. Healthy City Schools to begin deploying our covert threat detection platform which will help create a safer campus and community for their students, parents and staff,” said Martin Cronin, Patriot One chief executive officer and president.

A healthy partnership

It might surprise you to learn that there have been five school shootings in Ohio since 2007. One or two could be written off as statistical accidents, but five is on the cusp of a pattern.

The problem:

Jan. 20, 2017, West Liberty:One student is shot at West Liberty-Salem High School in Champaign County. The student’s condition is critically stable, and the shooter reportedly in custody.

Oct. 13, 2016, Columbus: Two 16-year-olds are arrested and accused of shooting two Linden-McKinley STEM Academy students from a moving car as students left school at the end of the day. The injuries were not fatal.

Feb. 29, 2016, Madison Twp.: James Austin Hancock, 14, is convicted and sentenced to six years in juvenile detention after shooting fellow students at Madison Junior/Senior High. Two are hit by gunfire and two by shrapnel. All survive.

Feb. 27, 2012, Chardon:T.J. Lane, 17, kills three students and injures three more at Chardon High School. He is sentenced to life without parole.

Oct. 10, 2007, Cleveland: Suspended student Asa Coon, 14, opens fire at SuccessTech Academy. Two teachers and two students are hurt before Coon kills himself.

Pat One isn’t in the business of solving these problems, but while the pointy-heads in academia put their heads together with law enforcement to discern the causes and find solutions, we can and should discuss what can be done to keep our kids safe and healthy. Nobody feels safe when they have to walk through a metal detector manned by armed guards in the morning. High schools aren’t the TSA, and nothing ruins the headspace required to learn faster than a clanging metal detector followed by a patdown.

“No student should have to walk into a school today and feel like they are walking into a fortress. This can create unnecessary anxiety for students who may wonder if their school is safe. The Patscan covert threat detection platform not only is focused on saving lives, but also saving a way of life for our students and our community,” said T.J. Dooley, Ginter Electrical’s systems integration manager.

Patriot One has a solution for this problem. The best part about Patscan and why it’s preferable to existing security measures is because it’s invisible, integrating easily with walls to control and monitor entryways, while sensitive enough to determine between a knife and a pencil.

healthy

Following the initial deployment of the Patscan platform at one of Mt. Healthy Schools, Patriot One and Ginter Electrical will work to broaden the deployment of the solution with other schools in the district, as well as with other clients who have expressed interest in the multisensor threat detection platform.
