With 59.4 percent of Canadians aged 25-64 holding tertiary education degrees, Canada ranks as the most highly educated country globally. The United States is Canada’s main trading partner, accounting for a significant portion of both exports and imports. Therefore it isn’t surprising that pharmaceuticals constitute a significant portion of Canada’s health care spend representing 15% of total expenditures.
