AMPD Ventures’ (AMPD.C) Vancouver-based subsidiary, Departure Lounge, announced the appointment today of Monica Morgan as VP of real estate and projects.
Departure Lounge, offering a wide variety of metaverse-related technologies, creative and Web 3.0 services, seeks to become an integral part of the real estate development process.
As construction projects lean more and more on such progressive technologies as XR, digital twins, blockchain and artificial intelligence in the design, implementation, and operation in built environments, the transition of Morgan from her initial role as consultant during the early stages of Departure to join the company full-time as co-founder, is a necessary and extremely beneficial step.
Morgan has almost 30 years in the public, private and non-profit sectors, including the past seven years as an entrepreneur running her own project management consulting company.
Her unique experience as an expert in public sector land and real estate development will allow her to leverage the technology and creative prowess of Departure Lounge into the planning and creation of blended spaces of physical and virtual realities.
Morgan has spent much of the past 20 years developing public anchors of innovation districts and precincts with multi-sector partners including government, universities, and industry.
James Hursthouse, CEO of Departure Lounge, commented on Morgan’s appointment, “Monica adds to the considerable depth of the Departure Lounge’s management team with her unique expertise, entrepreneurial approach, and multi-industry contacts. She has never been afraid to push the boundaries of what is possible and excels at finding new and emerging opportunities to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders on complex projects in new and emerging industry spaces.”
Morgan earned a Bachelor of Arts in Urban and Economic Geography from the University of British Columbia along with her Certified Management Consultant, Project Management Professional and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, Building Design and Construction designations.
She is a member of the Board of Vancouver Chapter of Lambda Alpha International (LAI) and a former board member and chair of the Real Estate Committee of Great Northern Way Trust in Vancouver.
Morgan summed up, “Departure Lounge and its sister company, AMPD Technologies, are addressing some of today’s most pressing community and market opportunities at the intersection of land, buildings, and emerging technologies. The combination of sustainable high-performance computing, advanced capture tools and technologies, along with 3D spatial creative and Web3.0 services can generate new and innovative ways of defining a future that we all want to be participating in – it is very exciting.”
Departure Lounge operates out of a 6,000-plus square foot facility at Vancouver’s Centre for Digital Media and houses the Metastage Volumetric Capture Stage, the largest in the world, as well as the Move.ai motion capture rig.
In recent news, AMPD announced that its Virtual Studio solution had been selected by the legendary Tippett VFX Studio as Tippett expands its North American operations.
Equity Guru founder, Chris Parry, recently discussed AMPD’s volumetric capture stage and the tremendous value it added to the company.
AMPD currently trades at $0.14 CAD per share for a market cap of $12.86 million.
