Speakeasy Cannabis Club (EASY.C) phase two buildout and the potential turnaround for cannabis

Speakeasy Cannabis Club (EASY.C) finished the second phase of their cannabis complex buildout, adding another eight rooms and bringing the total square footage of growing space to 36,300 square feet.

Normally this is where we’d say something like 2018 called, they want their news release back, but we’re not going to do that. Or at least I’m not. And that’s because of a conversation I had over the weekend where I heard something positive about the cannabis space for the first time since the summer of 2019.

Apparently, you can buy weed cheaper at a regulated cannabis store if you buy in bulk for prices that undercut the black market. My own investigations of the website showed you can buy at least one 28 gram option for $99. I haven’t bought weed from any variety of black market source in decades, but if I remember correctly, that’s a damn good price—even with 1990’s era Ontario shit-weed dealers.

If this trend continues, maybe it’ll spell a turnaround in cannabis’ fortunes. Does it mean we’re going to have to start paying attention to things like buildouts again? I hope not. But here it is regardless.

“We’re thrilled to add an additional 13,300 sq ft to our licensed infrastructure, 11,000 square feet of which is growing space. Utilizing buildings within our cannabis campus for a single purpose allows us to use the square footage very efficiently, over 80% of the building is being used to grow crops in this newest facility. Until today, our craft cannabis vertical was running at capacity and we were only able to produce 100 KG per month. These additional rooms will allow us to increase our monthly output capacity to 350 KG,” said Marc Geen, founder of EASY.

SpeakEasy is a cannabis company operating out of Rock Creek, British Columbia. Their Cannabis Craft Complex’s overall goal is to bring back the legendary ‘BC bud’ growing techniques that blew our minds in the 90’s and early oughts. They’re using decades of intergenerational knowledge, learning experiences and 100% climate controlled small batch rooms, which give the growers absolute control over the entire growing period.

Speakeasy at a glance:

SpeakEasy’s Cannabis Complex Phase 1 Infrastructure and Capacity:

  • 6 indoor craft grow rooms that are 100% climate controlled
  • 10,000 sq ft of indoor craft grow facility
  • 168 grow lights, 14 AC units
  • Monthly output of 100 KG

SpeakEasy’s Cannabis Complex Phase 2 Infrastructure and Capacity:

  • 13,300 sq ft approved by Health Canada
  • 8 indoor craft grow rooms that are 100% climate controlled consisting of 8 grow rooms outfitted with 405 grow lights, electrical, 36 HVAC units
  • Anticipated monthly output of 350 KG

The company intends on focusing its transition on the third phase of their development and continuing the steps to finalizing their buildout. The added space and output capacity will give the company the ability to add business to consumer options as well as continue their business to business partnerships, while exploring international options.
