Beacn Wizardry and Magic (BECN.V) advances audio tech for streaming content

Streaming content is the latest and best way in a digital world to propel stardom. Social media influencers, gamers and celebrities like Selena Gomez, Ninja and Cristiano Ronaldo attained and remained global household names utilizing social media and streaming. This exploding influencer market was valued at $7.36 billion USD in 2021 and is expected to climb to $69.92 billion by 2029 at a CAGR of 32.50%.

Because of this and the fact that social media can elevate anyone with good content and good engagement to star status, everyone and their dog is trying their hand at streaming content. Unfortunately even great ideas and a winning smile mean nothing when streaming content without good sound.

Audio engineering, the professional kind, is an esoteric art and lay people streaming content on social media fall incredibly short unless they invest in expensive professional audio equipment and pay for third-party audio post-production. Beacn Wizardry and Magic (BECN.V), a Victoria, BC-based company, is bridging the gap between the creator and professional sound in economical, easy-to-use and innovative audio hardware/software solutions.

Now someone who has never seen the inside of a sound studio can create the professional sound necessary to propel themselves into the spotlight. So how is this magic possible?

Beacn Mic

Beacn’s first offering is the Beacn Mic. This all-in-one hardware/software solution provides on-board, real-time adaptive noise suppression. The company’s patent-pending tech preserves audio quality through higher-fidelity noise removal, on-microphone processing as well as a wet/dry signal.

For non-sound engineers like me, that last line of the previous paragraph basically means that with the turn of a digital knob on the company’s easy-to-use app interface, you can dial down the background noise of your running fridge and improve the sound of your voice while you are streaming content without putting a strain on your computer and compromising the quality of your video stream.

With the Beacn Mic, you can adjust your sound with an equalizer, noise suppression, expander/gate, a compressor and enhancement suite while also adjusting the volume of your headphones.

As you can see, easy to use. But this is just the first item on Beacn’s list of leading-edge audio solutions for streaming content, next is the Beacn Mix and Beacn Mix Create.

This little audio controller packs a lot of punch and like the Beacn Mic, is easy to use with an intuitive computer app interface.

This unit collects all your audio sources and allows you to easily assign them a knob on the mixer. You don’t need any drivers and it can work with any hardware in Windows. Truly plug and play when streaming content.

The Beacn Mix allows you to drag and drop sources from the automatically generated source list in the unit’s app as seen below:

The Beacn Mix also allows you to easily switch between devices

The company’s Create version of the Beacn Mix adds functionality for the more experienced user including sub-mixes, knob paging, routing table and mute modes.

All these devices connect with a USB-C plug and are shipped with a USB-C to USB-A adaptors.

Not a bad start for a company that just went public in 2021.

Beacn is led by industry experts with Craig Fraser at the helm. Fraser has more than 25 years experience in recording and broadcast audio, product management/development as well as marketing and business leadership.

President, CTO and director, Daniel Davis has more than 15 years experience in product development and heads up all aspects of engineering and operations.

Minding the books is Robert J. Doyle, CFO and corporate secretary. Doyle has more than 30 years experience in mergers and acquisitions for succession planning in Canada and the US. He is senior VP at Pacific Opportunity, is an officer of several publicly listed companies and holds Bachelor of Science and Licentiate of Accounting degrees from the University of British Columbia.

Beacn listed $728,455 CAD in cash and cash equivalents as of September 30, 2022 with revenues of $727,088 for the quarter ending September 30, 2022 with a net loss of $202,084 for the same period.

Our own Jody Vance sat down with CEO Craig Fraser to get an inside look at the company, its leadership, product pipeline for streaming content and why investors should take note of Beacn.

Enjoy!
