Uranium is required to generate nuclear energy.

The Orano Group lists Reasons for Turning to Nuclear Energy: #1 A Low-carbon, #2 Constant and Controllable #3 Low Cost, #4 Essential to the electricity mix, #5 Zero atmospheric pollutants.

Recent geo-political events have increased the intensity of the spotlight on nuclear energy.

The war in Ukraine has precipitated energy crises so severe that even European countries with strong public opposition to nuclear power have had to embrace the technology,” states The Daily Upside.

“Germany, which had been on track to shutter its three remaining power plants by the end of this year in response to the Fukushima nuclear disaster of 2011, announced this week it will keep all three running until at least April next year”.

Standard Uranium (STND.V) is an $18.7 million company focused on the identification and development of prospective exploration stage uranium projects in the Athabasca Basin in Saskatchewan, Canada.

Standard Uranium’s Davidson River Project, in the southwest part of the Athabasca Basin, Saskatchewan, is comprised of 21 mineral claims over 25,886 hectares.

Davidson River is highly prospective for basement hosted uranium deposits yet remains relatively untested by drilling despite its location along trend from recent high-grade uranium discoveries.

This summer, Standard Uranium announced that the spring/summer drill program on the Davidson River Project had been successfully completed ahead of schedule, under budget, and with intersections of elevated radioactivity.

The 25,886-hectare Project is situated within the Southwest Athabasca Uranium District of Saskatchewan. The focused drill program followed up on prospective structures and alteration intersected during previous programs and tested brand new target areas.

Key Focus Points:

  • Davidson River diamond drill program successfully executed, totalling 4,107.7 metres in 10 drill holes.
  • Elevated radioactivity and significant structural and lithological signatures of a basement-hosted uranium-bearing system were intersected.
  • Highly deformed and graphitic structural zones identified several new priority follow-up targets along the Thunderbird and Bronco trends.
  • Multi-kilometre portions of the conductive corridors on the property remain to be tested.
  • Through engagement of GoldSpot Discoveries, the Company will extract further value from existing data sets in addition to new prospective intersections from the 2022 program.

The fourth drill program at Davidson River focused on testing the Thunderbird conductor for the first time as well as following up on prospective graphitic structural zones intersected along the Bronco conductor in 2021.

“It is well understood that Tier-one uranium discoveries are incredibly difficult to find,” stated Jon Bey, CEO and Chairman of Standard Uranium, “Our technical team have been very successful in hitting targets that reveal the ideal geological environment for uranium mineralization, which leads us to believe we are getting closer to a major discovery”.

On October 13, 2022, Equity Guru’s Maddy Grace spoke with Bey about how Standard Uranium is poised to become a contributor to our green energy revolution.

“The world is really pushing hard for clean energy,” stated Bey, “We’re looking at solar, we’re looking at hydro, wind, geothermal – all those things will be part of it. But nuclear has the biggest impact to make, because it can have such a small footprint and can create so much power from such a small place.”

“We explore in the northern part of Saskatchewan, Canada, called the Athabasca basin,” continued Bey, “This is known globally as the greatest place on Earth to find a high-grade uranium. There are mines in Kazakhstan, Australia, the U.S. and parts of Africa. But in Canada, in the Athabasca basin, what’s so special about it is the high grade of the deposits.”

“In many uranium mines, 1%, or half a percent is seen as a good grade. But in Canada we have grades up into 20%. You can have drill holes with grades as high as 80%.”

Global warming will shave 11-14% off global economic output by 2050 according to a report from insurance company Swiss Re – amounting to $23 trillion in reduced annual global economic output.

Nuclear power plants produce no greenhouse gas emissions during operation,” reports the World Nuclear Organisation, “and over the course of its life-cycle, nuclear produces about the same amount of carbon dioxide-equivalent emissions per unit of electricity as wind”, and even less than solar.

“As the world’s top producer of oil and gas, the US doesn’t have to worry about energy rationing,”stated The Daily Upside, “But it’s still eager to wean itself off fossil fuels for both environmental and geopolitical reasons”.

In September, 2022 Europe’s benchmark natural gas price (TTF) was up 156% over the previous year. Some Germans are installing airtight stoves and buying firewood to generate heat this winter.

The German announcement caused Uranium miners to spike: Cameco (NYSE: CCJ) added 6.7% to $22.71. Denison Mines (NYSEAMERICAN: DNN) gained 10.4% to $1.22. Energy Fuels (NYSEAMERICAN: UUUU) moved up 8.4% to $6.57.

“We are also pleased to announce that we will be adding to our technical capability with the high-tech expertise of GoldSpot Discoveries,” said the Standard Uranium CEO, Jon Bey, “Who we expect will assist in refining our future drill targets via the use of their proprietary artificial intelligence software.”
