Modern Plant Based Foods (MEAT.C) pops out with new chips brand

Modern Plant Based Foods (MEAT.C) launched its Snacks from the Sun popped chips brand across Canada today.

They’ve spread their popped chips brand out to 130 stores after inking strategic partnerships with key distributors in both Western and Eastern Canada.

“This is just the beginning for our expansion plans to increase our distribution for Snacks from the Sun. We have received rave reviews for the product and have significant meetings planned with distributors. The addition of 130 stores is just the cusp and the start of the potential growth potential we see in Canada,” says Avtar Dhaliwal, chief executive officer of Modern Plant Based Foods.

The company intends on growing its distribution chain within both Canada and the United States, and anticipates strong continued growth in 2022, courtesy of historical trends in the snack category and the trajectory for both sweet and salty snacks. A recent report indicated the Canadian snack food market pulled in USD $9.8 billion in 2020, up by $1.3 billion in 2019.

The company’s Snacks from the Sun Popped Potato Chips product are airy crisps made from potatoes, whole grains, and seasonings, then popped. They’re vegan and free of gluten, cholesterol and saturated fat, and they come in six different flavours. The snacks went over well at the latest Canadian Health Food Association Trade Show, drawing in some positive feedback and new potential distribution channels.

“After receiving tremendous feedback on the Snacks from the Sun popped chips at the CHFA event in Vancouver, we look forward to continuing our expansion plan into the snack category of retail stores. At the show, the Snacks from the Sun gathered significant interest from retailers, and we expect to be significantly adding to the number of Canadian retailers in the coming period,” said Cassidy McCord, chief corporate officer of Modern Plant Based Foods.
