Guru (GURU.T) Extends Presence in Convenience Channel

Guru (GURU.T) announced on March 4, 2021 that their plant-based energy drinks will soon be available in more than 1,130 Circle K and 140 Winks convenience stores in Canada. The Company’s brand presence will be boosted to approximately 3,000 points-of-sale in Canadian markets outside of Quebec.

“We are very pleased to expand our national presence through listing in Circle K and Winks stores, thanks to the success of our brand in Couche-Tard’s locations in Quebec and our solid partnership with the undisputed leader in the convenience store industry…the high-velocity convenience channel is core to our growth strategy and with this first 2021 launch announcement we are well on our way to achieving our goal of increasing our points-of-sale in Canadian markets outside of Quebec to over 5,000 by the spring of 2021,” said Carl Goyette, president and chief executive officer of Guru

Couche-Tard was recognized as the leading convenience store chain in Canada in the financial year of 2019/20. With this in mind, its unsurprising that Guru has found incredible success in Couche-Tard stores in Quebec. However, Couche-Tard’s influence doesn’t just stop in Quebec, it expands throughout all of Canada. Ontario currently holds top spot for total amount of convenience stores sitting at over 2,955 stores. Considering Couche-Tard owns a majority of these chains including Circle K, Ontario is an incredibly lucrative market for Guru. Additionally, Winks is an affiliate of Couche-Tard adding to its extensive roster of convenience store chains. Its no wonder that Couche-Tard is recognized as the leader in the Canadian convenience industry.

“We are pleased to expand the presence of Guru’s organic plant-based energy drinks across Canada, thereby providing our customers with more choice in the growing energy drink category at a time when demand for organic and plant-based products is also growing rapidly. We look forward to Guru’s success as a customer traffic driver in Quebec to extend to the rest of Canada,” said Melissa Lessard, head of marketing and merchandising at Couche-Tard Inc

Guru beverages are sure to get some attention being the world’s first natural, plant-based energy drink. Consumers can expect to find Guru Original, Lite, Match and Yerba Mate products in select Circle K and Winks locations across Canada. If you’re an energy fiend watching your waist, Guru could be a great alternative.

Guru’s stock jumped to $17.19 following their announcement yesterday (March 4, 2021). Today the stock price opened at $15.56 and currently sits at $14.99.
