HAVN Life Sciences (HAVN.C) supplies mushrooms for Revive Therapeutics (RVV.C) clinical trials

Revive Therapeutics (RVV.C) recent supply agreement with HAVN Life Sciences (HAVN.C) will give them a steady supply of naturally derived psychedelic compounds, like psilocybin, to be used in any future investigational new drug (IND) enabling studies and clinical trials under the watchful eye of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

HAVN Life Sciences focuses primarily on the extraction of psychoactive compounds from plants and fungi from which natural health care products from non-regulated compounds can be isolated and developed.

“We are developing unique products with both synthetic and naturally-derived psilocybin and building relationships with companies and institutions that support our objectives in the psychedelic space including our established relationship with the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the research and clinical development of our novel Psilocybin oral-thin film product and the Phase 1 clinical study using psilocybin in the treatment of methamphetamine use disorder,” said Michael Frank, Revive’s chief executive officer.

When we’re talking about drug delivery systems we’re talking about onset time and bioavailability, or how long it takes for the drug to start acting and how much of what you’ve taken is still present to act on the body. RVV’s delivery system for psilocybin is an oral thin-film, which you take under your tongue. Your saliva dissolves it and it takes a quick jump through the tender tissues in your mouth straight to the lymph nodes, where it gets a free ride to the liver. In terms of onset time and bioavailability it’s much better than taking a pill, which has to go through your GI tract and get absorbed into the small intestine before making its way to the liver—a wait of maybe 45 minutes—but not as good as intravenous, which is an express-trip straight to the circulatory system.

Lots of companies are using this method right now to transport all kinds of chemicals, but only RVV is using a composite of tannins and chitin. The delivery technology is an all-natural, non-toxic, complete biodegradable and biocompatible. Tannins are what make your wine red and also possess antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant and wound healing properties, while chitin comes from crabs, lobsters, other crustaceans and other armour-bearing animals. Chitin also has blood-clotting and anti-microbial properties. The application, however, is still the same. You roll it into your mouth and let your saliva do its thing. The average dose using this method runs anywhere from 1 mg to 20 mg.

“Our path at HAVN Life has always been very clear: to supply standardized, quality controlled compounds to researchers so they can do the research that’s necessary to document health and wellness benefits of psychedelic medicine and ultimately help the industry with the knowledge required to legalize these compounds,” said Susan Chapelle, co-CEO at HAVN life.

As their chart would indicate Revive’s been on something of a ride these past six months with their lowest point being in May when they broke out of their ranging point of roughly the $0.05 mark and rode a series of bumps and dips to a high of $0.45 in August. Now the past few months they seem to have returned to a higher set ranging point at around a quarter. So if you’ve been holding for six months, congratulations on your gains.
