The World Bank is on record calling Singapore the second best place out of 190 economies to do business in Southeast Asia. That makes it an ideal spot for businesses looking to climb aboard Southeast Asia’s digital economy train. Now as Singapore’s economic success and reputation as a great place for innovation grows, there’s going to be a need for a service that provides a roadmap to successful digital transformation.

That’s why VMware (VMW.NYSE) has made their new vRealize Automation Cloud Service available in Singapore.

The vRealize service consists of three different components: VMware Cloud Assembly, VMware Service Broker and VMware Code Stream. Purpose built for a hybrid cloud, these three services enable organizations to streamline application delivery, achieve cloud flexibility and choice while controlling cost, giving them the ability to fast-track business innovation in the region’s bid to become the first mobile-first, app-driven economy.

“As more companies anchor their operations in Singapore to leapfrog into Southeast Asia’s app-driven digital economy, it is critical that they foster greater collaboration and agility to spur business innovation. With the availability of VMware’s Automation Cloud Service, we provide businesses with a robust foundation where they can scale and innovate rapidly to meet the dynamic business environment, especially at a time like this,” said Sanjay K. Deshmukh, vice president and managing director of SEAK at VMware.

What is VMware?

VMware is a software company dealing with cloud computing, app modernization, networking, security and digital workplace offerings. They aim to deliver any application on any cloud across any device. They boast Dell Technologies (DELL.NYSE) as a majority shareholder, and are involved in cloud computing and virtualization software and services. Their software is available for Windows, Linux and macOS.

The vRealize system has been given top rank in the IDC Cloud System Management Report for the seventh consecutive year. The availability of the cloud service boosts the capacity for data centres, allowing all data hosted in Singapore to stay in Singapore, while adding increased accessibility and security.

The three services defined:

  • VMware Cloud Assembly: Automate the multi-cloud experience by orchestrating and expediting infrastructure and application delivery in line with DevOps principles
  • VMware Service Broker: Deliver multi-cloud services and policies from a single catalogue through aggregation of native content from multiple clouds and platforms into a single catalogue with tag-based policies
  • VMware Code Stream: Continuous Delivery made easy by speeding software delivery and streamlining troubleshooting with release pipelines and analytics

vRealize works well with AWS, (Microsoft) Azure, GCP, or VMC to serve customers’ needs. The supposedly removes the complexities of consuming multiple public cloud services and fosters greater collaboration between developers and IT operators, all while maintaining security and compliance, including role-based policies across cloud environments.

If there’s anything negative to say about this product, it comes from how user-unfriendly it is, even for industry professionals.

“Lovely informable dashboards can be customized but the product is complex somehow as it needs a lot of experience and time to do what is required,” according to one reviewer.
