LiCo Energy Metals (LIC.V) preps for lithium brine drilling at Salar Atacama, Chile

LiCo Energy Metals (LIC.V) pushed their exploration efforts forward when the company announced recently that it was finalizing details for the impending lithium brine exploration program at the Purickuta Project located within the Salar de Atacama, Chile.

According to the news release, the company intends to complete a detailed Transient Electromagnetic Method (TEM) geophysical survey. The survey will help define optimal targets for drilling.

The company will then commence drilling to depths of approximately 200 metres as soon as the relevant permits have been issued.

After this, the company will begin a detailed engineering and hydrological study that includes 72-hour flow testing, porosity measurements and calculation of potential reserve values. An RFP for drilling quotes will be issued in the coming week.

Dwayne Melrose, Director and Head of the Technical Advisory Board of LiCo, commented, “It is with great anticipation that we approach the start of our exploration program in the Salar de Atacama, famous for its Lithium production by our neighbors SQM and Albemarle. If all goes well, we are hoping to have success with our project. Several direct extraction technologies are now being developed which would be an ideal fit for the Purickuta Project.”
