Nevada King (NKG.V) to begin drilling at Lewis Gold Project

Nevada King Gold (NKG.V) provided an update on their Lewis Gold Project located in the heart of the Battle Mountain Trend in Lander County, Nevada.

The update included plans for upcoming 2021 drilling, which will involve 38 RC holes ranging in depth from 107m to 230m and totaling 6,400m. As is shown below, many of Nevada King’s drill targets center around the Celestine O’Neal historical resource, which they aim to qualify and want to merge with the Rocky Canyon and Record Mine historical resource, on the Celestine O’Neal’s left and right in the image, respectively.

NKG’s will cover the northwest extension of gold mineralization from the Hilltop deposit. Nevada King is utilising vectors derived from historical drill results for stepping out from known mineralized zones and extending the historical gold resources into previously untested target areas.

Nevada King are currently repairing the roads at the Lewis Project and laying out the drill sites. They expect the drill program to start in September. NKG received approval for a Notice with the Bureau of Land Management, who provide permitting for this program.

“The Lewis Project hosts two historical gold resources that are open at depth and along strike. The 2021 drilling program will focus on the Rocky Canyon and Celestine O’Neal targets with the objectives of: 1) confirming historical drilling results, 2) testing the extent of these reported historical resources, and 3) testing the continuity of mineralization between the two historical resources. Nevada King is also collecting new geophysical and geochemical data to aid in identifying areas where the Roberts Mountain Thrust is most likely to be encountered at shallower depths (<1000m) – i.e. where we might find a Pipeline-type target. This work will also aid in identifying additional Upper Plate targets in covered areas and will drill test previously underexplored portions of the Project. This first pass of drilling is designed to reveal important information about the possible scale of gold mineralization at Lewis and if successful will pave the way for additional drilling programs,” stated Cal Herron, COO of Nevada King.

The Lewis project is nearby “world-class gold deposits” being mined by Nevada gold mines and, according to NKG, represents one of the last underexplored district scale opportunities in the heart of the Battle Mountain Trend. The project is located near many other notable projects and deposits.

To aid with their exploration, Nevada King is making use of “an extensive historical database” on the site which includes 258 RC and core holes. The Lewis Project contains two past-producing underground mines, as well as two historical gold resources that are open in multiple directions and at depth. NKG has spent the past 5 years consolidating the project into a cohesive package, allowing for effective exploration, and hopefully for them, an producing mine.

Following the news, Nevada King Gold shares are down 1.5 cents and are currently trading at $0.48.
