Sproutly Canada (SPR.C) has completed the formulation of its initial beverage products and has submitted a notice of new cannabis product (NNCP) notification with Health Canada.
“With the completion of our initial beverage formulations, we are making steady progress towards 2.0 products that utilize our APP technology. Our beverages will deliver a predictably fast onset and offset of natural experiences of sativa, indica and hybrid strains…Our all-natural water-soluble cannabis extract is well suited for beverages, providing a great taste profile while avoiding artificial chemicals typically used to incorporate oil into water,” commented Dr. Arup Sen, chief executive officer and director of Sproutly.
One distinguishing point that sets alcohol apart from cannabis is its rapid onset time. According to Health Canada, it can take up to 30 minutes to 2 hours to begin feeling the effects of a cannabis edible. In contrast, alcoholic beverages have a rapid onset time of 10-15 minutes, as they are more rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream. Don’t get the pitchforks out yet! I know, comparing edibles to alcohol is like putting an amateur in the ring with a professional boxer; its not fair. However, even when comparing cannabis-infused beverages to conventional alcohol, the former falls short by a mile.
Tweed, one of Canada’s leading cannabis producers, has a line of cannabis-infused products, including its ‘Houndstooth & Soda’ beverage. As indicated by the company. Houndstooth & Soda has an expected onset time of 30 minutes to 2 hours. Keep in mind, this is the same onset time that Health Canada estimated for cannabis edibles. However, Sproutly’s cannabis-infused beverages utilize cannabis extracts produced using Aqueous Phytorecovery Process (APP) technology.
Okay, but what is APP? APP uses reagents, a substances or mixtures used in chemical analysis and reaction, to recover naturally occurring water-soluble cannabinoids as well as cannabis oils. With this in mind, APP technology enables the Company to achieve predictable and rapid onset as well as offset of true to strain cannabis experiences that are not created by distillates and terpenes. With APP technology, Sproutly’s beverages will have an estimated onset time of 5 minutes with effects dissipating within approximately 90 minutes. With this in mind, Sproutly’s line of cannabis-infused products will be practically indistinguishable from alcoholic beverages.
Sproutly’s line of beverages will be launched under the Company’s Caliber brand, starting with its Lemon Z and Berry White strains to deliver a sativa and indica experience, respectively. These products will be sold under Toronto Herbal Remedies, Sproutly’s Health Canada licensed subsidiary. Sproutly intends to launch its new beverages in the third quarter of 2021. Leading up to the official launch, Sproutly may be worth keeping an eye on as a cheap, but potentially profitable investment opportunity.
Sproutly’s share price opened at $0.055 and is currently trading at $0.06 as of 11:39AM ET. The Company’s shares are up 9.09% indicating that there has been some change following the news.
