Sonim Technologies (SONM.Q) Keeps Itself Dry, Introduces Klein Waterproof Headsets and RSMs

Sonim Technologies (SONM.Q) announced today that it has launched Klein Electronics’ waterproof headsets and Remote Speaker Microphones (RSMs), compatible with the Company’s SecureAudio Connector handset, including XP3, XP5s and XP8.

“Device failure is a major issue impacting enterprise operations and increasing overall total cost of ownership,” said John Graff, CMO, Sonim Technologies.

There is a big difference between waterproof and water-resistant. A product that is waterproof is expected to be impervious to water damage within reasonable limitations. Many seem to be under the impression that iPhone’s, take the iPhone 11 as an example, are waterproof. In actuality, the iPhone 11 is water-resistant, with an IP68 water-resistance rating. This means that the iPhone 11 is supposed to be able to survive for up to 30 minutes in 2 meters of water. With this in mind, if you’re a company claiming that your product is waterproof, you better be willing to die on that hill if things go awry.

So, who is Sonim Technologies? Sonim is a leading US provider of ultra-rugged mobility solutions specifically designed for task workers physically engaged in their work environments, often in mission-critical roles. Although I wasn’t battling fierce storms, I would often use durable device similar to Sonim’s when I was working overnights as a merchandiser. Aside from looking worse for wear, those bad boys never failed me. Moving on, some of Sonim’s products include ultra-rugged mobile phones, a suite of industrial-grade accessories, as well as data and workflow applications which are collectively designed to increase worker productivity, communications and safety on the job site.

“Our 3-year warranty demonstrates we stand behind our rugged performance standards, instilling confidence in first responders and industrial workers who rely on the Sonim and Klein combined solution for critical communications in their operations,” continued John Graff, CMO, Sonim Technologies.

In the past year, Sonim and Klein have been working together to address customer objections related to rugged audio accessories, including affordability, waterproofing, and warranty. With that being said, both companies now offer the most affordable, waterproof headsets and RSMs with a 3-year comprehensive warranty via leading mobile operators and distributors around the world. As previously mentioned, Klein’s waterproof headsets and RSMs will be compatible with Sonim’s XP3, XP5s, and XP8 devices. These phone products are advertised as being ultra-rugged while maintaining reliable communications in some of the most extreme situations. If you’re not convinced that Sonim is more than just talk, check out the Company’s website where you can find an extensive list of case studies.

Sonim’s share price opened at $0.666, up from a previous close of $0.59. The Company’s shares are up 15% and are currently trading at $0.68 as of 11:11 AM ET.
