PlantX Life (VEGA.C) Launches Personalized Platform in Collaboration with Venus Williams

PlantX Life (VEGA.C) announced today that it has launched a new personalized web page showcasing PlantX products that have been curated by tennis champion, entrepreneur and PlantX ambassador, Venus Williams.

“Embarking on a plant-based journey can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially if there’s sports performance considerations for your diet…Venus compiling and presenting her favorite plant-based products in a centralized way on the PlantX platform greatly simplifies that process,” said PlantX Founder, Sean Dollinger.

PlantX’s new centralized platform, titled “Venus Picks”, is intended to provide an outlet for Ms. Williams to advocate for the benefits of living a plant-based lifestyle while simultaneously promoting the Company’s product offerings. As you could probably guess by the name, Venus Picks will feature some of Williams’ favorite PlantX products including pantry items, supplements, and protein snacks. Venus Picks can be found on the Company’s Canadian and US ecommerce platforms and showcases a variety of products from popular plant-based brands such as Earth Balance, Sunfood Superfoods and Plantfusion.

Ms. Williams plant-based journey began in 2011 when she was diagnosed with Sjogren’s syndrome, an autoimmune disease that causes joint pain and fatigue. According to Ms. Williams, a plant-based diet helped her mitigate her symptoms, leading her to become a strong advocate for plant-based education. Admittedly, I had my doubts regarding the effectiveness of a plant-based diet for managing Sjogren’s syndrome. However, after reading an incredibly boring journal documenting the study of Sjogren’s syndrome, I came to learn that “functional foods” have potential as an alternative to conventional immunosuppressive therapies.

“I am excited to share my favorite plant-based products with the PlantX community…By having these items in one place, our goal is that it will encourage people to learn more about the plant-based lifestyle and understand how they can integrate it into their own lives,” said PlantX Ambassador, Venus Williams.

Personally, I would like to see a small-cap company like PlantX life do well, however, the Company’s most recent moves have made some investors skeptical. At a glance, I can understand where this skepticism is coming from. PlantX recently entered into a charitable partnership with the Squamish Food Bank, opened its first Canadian brick-and-mortar store in Squamish, and announced its new indoor plant warehouse in…Squamish. With this in mind, it seems like PlantX is putting all its eggs in one basket. To make matters worse, Squamish is really small, with a population of 20,404 in 2019.

However, Squamish is located in British Columbia, one of the fastest growing plant-based provinces in Canada. According to insightwest.com, residents of BC are far more likely than anywhere else in Canada to have tried a plant-based or flexitarian diet. Moreover, 25% have tried a vegetarian diet at some point in their lives, which is higher than the national average of 18%. As a whole, more than 40% of the Canadian population is actively trying to incorporate more plant-based foods into their diets, leading to an 8% increase in annual global sales of plant-based meat alternatives since 2010.

Sure, Squamish may be small, but the plant-based community in Canada’s west coast is blooming at an impressive rate. The way I see it, PlantX has positioned itself in a potentially lucrative market that could enable the Company to expand its footprint across BC and Canada as a whole.
