Folks at the weed conference in Vegas right now tell me Calyx Bio-Ventures (CYX.V) CEO Roger Forde has been basically making a nuisance of himself, collaring the big Canadian weed players to show them his new LeafHub secure mass communication platform.
Now, obviously ‘secure’ and ‘mass communication’ are two phrases usually at odds with one another, but what Forde has built is something that will allow an industry to talk to itself.
That is, your Tilray’s and Aphria’s and Supreme Pharmaceuticals’ folks could be in constant contact doing wholesale deals quickly and easily, offering overflow to industry folks without having to deal with Johnny Two Toes from Uncle Chucky’s Weed Shack.
A customer side of the service can be easily added, as can company-specific ends that allow internal conversation, only with those given access.
The system is a break-out of what you already find on services like Slack, which are more about corporate internal communication than industry-wide chat, and Forde says he’s got extras built into his system that take it beyond what a Slack install is capable of.

Meanwhile, on a day when the giants were getting their asses handed to them, CYX stock stayed pretty level, with significant trading volume. Going to be interesting to see how this plays out.
