Who I’m talking to: Secova Metals (SEK.V) and Equitas Resources (EQT.V)

annoyed

As I travel between peeler bars – uh, I mean boardrooms – talking to CEOs and Presidents and investors and brokers, the first question almost everyone asks me is, “Who are you talking to?”

I know why. Because the more important information than what company is going up in share price, is what company is being discussed? What company is planning to make a move? What company are people taking positions in?

Well, I’m going to make it easy by letting you know exactly who I’m talking to, as I talk to them. These aren’t necessarily companies that I’ve done deals with, or will do deals with, but they’re companies who have come to me and asked to explain their opportunity, to see whether there might be some potential to work together down the road.

Last Friday I have three meetings – one ‘getting to know you’ with the fellas at Zimtu (ZC.V), who represent and market a ton of companies, most famously in the resource sector. Their phones were running hot. Dave Hodge, the head honch over there, said he’s all but stopped taking calls from companies because there’s. Just. So. Many.

This is a great sign that the resource sector is starting to expand at the seams, and I’m hearing similar talk from everyone I talk to, from CEOs on down. This is the time when the resource sector turned.

Zimtu is setting up another cross-Europe CEO-investor bus tour, which sounds like a road movie waiting to happen.

One of Zimtu’s client companies is a little outfit called Equitas Resources (EQT.V). You may know Equitas from being ‘that company that put out those nickel results that nobody liked’ recently. Execs tell me they weren’t devastated by the results and have a better idea where they’d drill next if they do drill there next, but they may not do that for some time because they’ve fallen ass backwards into a turnkey gold operation.

Nice timing on that, lads.

The iffy nickel results took the company from $0.12 down to $0.05, where they sit today, but I’m not sure the potential value of the gold operation has been wired into that price yet, especially with the shiny yellow on a bit of a tear of late. I don’t own any, yet, but I think it’s worth a look.

Also on deck, Secova Minerals (SEK.V), which is an outfit in the midst of a corporate rebuild and marketing shakeup.

I will say only this about Secova at this stage… look at the trading volume of the last week. Rubber is hitting asphalt. They’ve been building up to something for some time now, clearing decks, cleaning up books. Watchlist.

Lastly, I had a great chat with Supreme Pharmaceuticals CEO John Fowler, which we turned into a podcast episode, about his company getting its marijuana license, the ramp-up to production, and what he thought of all those short-selling naysayers he proved wrong. Good talk.

Next week? I get stuck back into the weed space when I talk to Veritas Pharma (VRT.C). Anyone else got something to chat about? Leave a comment below and I’ll take a look..
